Animal Evacuations - Hurricane/Tropical Storm Season
(Dr. Jeter, FLA DOAC)
Hurricanes and other natural disastrous events pose serious threats to the safety of Florida residents and their animals. Because of the increased danger related to potentially disastrous events, especially during hurricane season, FDACS will suspend the intrastate and interstate movement requirements for animals being transported to safety from the impacted areas.
Agricultural Law Enforcement Officers will complete an ALE-5 on animals being relocated due to the current disastrous event. The ALE-5 must include specifically the point of origin and point of destination. A copy of the ALE-5 must accompany the animals at all times and must be surrendered to the ALE interdiction station upon returning the animals back their point of origin.
Georgia and Alabama will accept animals seeking refuge in their state until such time the danger has passed. However, the owner/driver must have a copy of the ALE-5 form accompanying the animals during their temporary stay in those states.
